Cheap E85 fuel to be sold Wednesday in Elk Grove
Elk Grove Citizen
An Elk Grove gas station will be one of five in the Sacramento region to sell E85 ethanol fuel for 85 cents a gallon on Feb. 24.
The promotion, put on by Propel Fuels, will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shell Station at 9190 East Stockton Blvd.
E85, so named because it is 85 percent plant-based ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, is typically priced about 50 cents per gallon cheaper than gasoline, according to a Propel Fuels press release.
Mark Prentice, a spokesperson for Propel Fuels, said the event is designed to raise awareness of the fuel, which can be used in dozens of production cars.
“A lot of people don’t know they have a Flex Fuel vehicle,” Prentice said.
Most Flex Fuel vehicles, which can run on gasoline or E85, have a special badge or a yellow gas cap. Compatible vehicles are listed at http://www.propelfuels.com/driveE85.
The 85-cent pricing on Feb. 24 will also be available at the following stations:
Citrus Heights - 7741 Auburn Blvd
Sacramento, Florin Road - 8062 Florin Road
Sacramento, Folsom Blvd. - 8090 Folsom Blvd.
Rocklin - 6700 Five Star Blvd
