Grant funds to install blender pumps still available
Argus Leader
Federal funds are still available in South Dakota to help retailers install ethanol blender pumps at gas stations.
The program is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Blender pumps allow motorists to select the amount of ethanol they want in their fuel starting with the traditional 10 percent blend and moving up to blends of 20, 30 and 85 percent ethanol.
Blender pump grants totaling $350,000 have been awarded so far in 13 communities, according to Hunter Roberts, state energy policy director.
Eligible retail fuel dealers may qualify for grants of up to $10,000 per pump to defray the cost of installing blender pumps. Grant requests will be accepted through May 21. The new pumps must be in place by December.
