Grand opening ceremonies for two new Pearson Fuels E85 locations in California are planned for Dec. 16. At noon, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at Foothill Chevron in Pomona, followed by a similar ceremony at Joe’s 76 in Perris at 3 p.m. The new Perris fueling location is the first station in Inland Empire to offer E85, while Pomana’s new E85 fueling location is the second to open publically in the Los Angeles basin.

Attendees at both events can enjoy free food and refreshments. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Pearson Fuels will be selling E85 at the Foothill Chevron for 85 cents per gallon. E85 will also cost only 85 cents per gallon at Joe’s 76 from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. In addition, Pomona Mayor Elliott Rothman and city council members will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony in Pomona.

These two new fueling locations are part of Pearson Fuels statewide roll out of E85 stations. Funding for the stations is being provided in part by CALSTART with financial support from the U.S. DOE and the California Air Resources Board.

“It is exciting for us to see the progress and interest in alternative fuel infrastructure over the last few years,” said Pearson Fuels co-owner Mike Lewis. “These E85 dispensers will soon be among the first in the state to be dispensing our cellulosic ethanol production from AE Biofuels, which just agreed this week to take over one of California’s dormant corn ethanol plants. You will probably see other non-food-based E85 at this station by summer.”

In Minnesota, a new ethanol blender pump location at the Farmers Union Oil station in Warroad is also celebrating its grand opening. The station is celebrating the addition of its new fuel options with Christmas tree discounts from Dec. 9 through Dec. 11.

Customers who buy 8 gallons or more of ethanol-blended fuel at the Farmers Union Oil station during those dates will be eligible to receive a discount on the price of live Christmas trees sold at the station. Those purchasing E85 will receive an $8.50 discount, those purchasing E50 will receive a $5 discount, those purchasing E30 will receive a $3 discount, those purchasing E20 will receive a $2 discount, and those purchasing E10 will receive a $1 discount.
